What formats do you accept?

Is there a word limit for each article?
There is no word limit, you are welcome to share as much detail as you wish to share on your work. We do not require you to write a new article for submission, we simply ask you to upload what you would normally write in your lab book in your daily work (we do not want to create or impose new formats for you!)

How do I update my article?
Within your profile, you can select your article which you have published and choose the option to edit the article.

How do I change the author order?
You can simply change them by going to your article’s page through the “Edit” button.

Does each author in the paper need to be a member of NanoFab?
Yes, if the author wants to have the same article reflected on his/her profile. However, they can remain as guests (non-members) authors for the article, they simply would not have the article listed under their profile. However, if they do sign up as a member after the publication, they can request for the article to be added to their profile?

Can I publish without an image?
Yes you can. However, we would encourage you to do so as it provides additional information to our readers. You can also choose to publish your article first and then update it with an image if necessary.

Article submission -What fields of knowledge do you accept? Is there any topic that would not be accepted?
We accept all articles pertaining to processes on micro and nanofabrication. This can be from all disciplines as long as it is focussed on nanofabrication techniques or processes. All submitted articles go through a period of approval before being published on our website. However, if you’re unsure, you can reach us at (generic email address) to share your concerns with us.

Can I view an article as a guest?
Yes, you can download and view the article as a guest. However, you would be unable to submit comments on the article itself.

If my institution is not there, how do I sign up?
If your institution is not listed, you can select ‘other’ and key in your institution’s name. Once it is verified, it would be included in the list of institutions.

If I move/change institutions, how do I update my profile?
Send an email to info@nanofab-net.org and we will fix it for you!

Is there a subscription fee involved?
No, the articles are free to be viewed and downloaded.

What is the benefit of being a member?
As a member, you are allowed to publish your articles on NanoFab-net as well as have the ability to follow tags and authors to keep up to date with the most recent advances in your field of interest.

How can I share my article once it is published?
Once your article is published on NanoFab, you can get a shareable link which you can then use for your emails or to share on various social media platforms. Your NanoFab article is also assigned a DOI which you can use for future citations or sharing in other forms.

What if my article is on an existing method? Would it go against copyright issues?
No, the underlying idea, processes or systems described is not subject to copyright protection so you are welcome to publish your article related to a current process or method. However, if you are reusing text or making reference to a published article, please cite the original works where relevant.

Does publishing my work here affect my chances of an article being published in a peer reviewed journal?
No, the articles published on NanoFab are independent of any peer-review publication so it should not affect your submissions for them. Your articles on NanoFab can be cited in your journal article as references or supplementary information.

Do all articles undergo a vetting process before publication?
Yes, all articles are scanned for plagiarism or spam. However, we do not review articles or offer feedback on them as we are not a peer reviewed journal. All articles have a comments section where members of NanoFab can contribute suggestions or offer comments on the individual work.

How do I link my work here for an upcoming paper submission?
After publishing your article on NanoFab, there is a DOI assigned to your article. You can use the DOI in your paper.

How do I share feedback?
You can share your feedback on the articles by posting a comment on the relevant articles. However, this feature is only accessible by members of NanoFab so you would need to create an account before you can do so. What search features do you support?
You can search for everything in the articles metadata. Also you can have AND/OR for more advanced search. For example: Ebeam AND dry etching.
